U-Con Gaming Convention
November 12-14, 2010
Ann Arbor, Michigan
http://ucon-gaming.org

What is this? U-Con is a gathering of gamers and companies from around the region. Founded in 1988, the convention attracts gamers from Southeast Michigan, across the United States, and several other countries as well. You’ll find quality board and card games, collectible card games, miniatures, and role-playing events. The exhibitors’ hall contains unique gaming merchandise. U-Con is a great place to meet gamers and have fun!

Registration. The catalog of events is available at our website. All attendees must purchase a badge. Preregister by Nov 2: $20. At-the-door: $25. Students & Military: $20. Day passes available. Individual event tickets are additional and optional. Events run from 10am on Friday through 7pm on Sunday.

Guest of Honor Paul S. Kemp. Paul is a New York Times best-selling author of fantasy fiction. Many of his novels are set in the Forgotten Realms. However this year marked his first foray into the Star Wars universe with his novel, Crosscurrent, which quickly became a bestseller.

Game Donation Charity Drive. The Education Project for Homeless Youth is returning to U-Con this year for another Game Donation Drive. Last year's drive was a huge success, with U-Con attendees, vendors, and committee members donating nearly 100 games and $350. Because of this, every homeless student in Washtenaw county received a game as part of their holiday gift bag from EPHY last year. You can find out more about this year's drive, such as acceptable items for donation, at U-Con's website.

Game Design Contest.  U-Con is hosting a game design contest and we need players to determine the winner. Players are required to have a convention badge, the least costly of which is a $5 visitor badge. The contest will take place Saturday afternoon from noon to 6pm. Players need not stay the whole session, though we request they avoid leaving in the middle of a game.

Video Game Tournaments.  In cooperation with Wolverine Software.
Friday: Retro Games! Free and open to all. Play classic games for the Atari 2600 and NES. Prizes awarded.
Saturday: Halo Reach! $3 entrance fee and requires a badge. Prizes awarded.
Sunday: Super Street Fighter IV! $3 entrance fee and requires a badge. Prizes awarded.

More Events. Smithee Awards, Warhammer 40K Tournament, D&D, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, GURPS, Settlers of Catan and other Award Winning Board Games
